We felt it was necessary to create an article explaining why we decided to create PixDrop’s picture messaging iOS app and give an overview of all the (crappy and expensive) picture messaging apps that were out there in the App Store before PixDrop.

Earlier this week we submitted our PixDrop mobile app for the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad to Apple for inclusion in the iTunes App Store! We’re excited about putting out our first mobile app and we hope that users will find the app to be a valuable tool for picture messaging for free when traveling abroad, when cell service is not available, or from the iPod Touch and the iPad, which do not include picture messaging!

Today AT&T has finally, officially, rolled out MMS picture messaging for all iPhone users in the US. The downside to this is that you need to upgrade to iPhone OS 3.1 to take advantage of the MMS update. Once you’ve upgraded to iPhone OS 3.1 you’re iPhone will be able to do something it should have been able to do a long time ago…..receive free picture messages from PixDrop! 
Now you can send you’re friends your favorite “epic fail” or “lolcats” photos for free from PixDrop.com, even if they have an iPhone! Enjoy!
We’ve had some people emailing us asking when Verizon Wireless support will be fixed. Unfortunately, things are not looking so good and it looks like we’re still having issues with Verizon blocking our servers from sending messages to their customers phones.
However, we’ve made a work around for this problem by releasing our new beta picture uploader! By uploading your pics from your computer you can easily access them from the web on your phone! We also send you a text message for free with the link to the picture to download. This actually works with ALL carriers as long as your phone has a mobile web browser!
